United Hatzalah is Israel’s only nationwide, fully-volunteer emergency medical service providing fast, free and professional emergency medical treatment to anyone in need, 24/7.
// Project Description
The Psychotrauma Crisis Response Unit (PCRU) offers immediate, on-site psychological intervention at medical emergency scenes for victims, family members and bystanders. The Unit also supports UH medics who have incurred trauma while volunteering. This Partnership Region project seeks to: cross-train 30 UH medics as PCRU responders, offer 120 counseling sessions to 12 UH medics, invite 10 UH medics to healing retreats and offer 40 Family Safety courses to about 800 citizens.
// Project Goals
To strengthen resilience in the Partnership Region by expanding our Psychotrauma Crisis Response Unit (PCRU); to treat traumatized civilians at emergency scenes as well as United Hatzalah (UH) medics who have incurred trauma while volunteering and by offering Family Safety courses to the public.
// Target Population
30 more medics will join local PCRU. 12 medics will receive counseling. 10 medics will be invited to retreats. 800 citizens will participate in Family Safety courses.

// Outcomes
Improvement of beneficiaries’ mental health following trauma by Immediate psychological care. Medics will be able to process and cope with trauma using therapy and retreats. Family Safety courses will provide participants with skills like CPR, bleeding control and the ability to recognize emotional distress.
// Project Timeline
PCRU - 10 hours of training + 1.5-2 hours of supervision for 30 medics within the next 3 months. Counseling sessions - held on a weekly basis. Retreats - held at various times throughout the year. Family Safety courses - 3-4 per month for a year.
// Budget Sustainability
Unite Hatzalah is always working to identify partners to support its programs. The organization also continues to develop its business model, including sale of medical equipment and training programs, and provision of non-emergency medical services.
If the Partnership will not fund the full required sum, United Hatzalah will carry out the project in accordance with the level of funding received.
