The Marianne Center serves as a home for families of children with special needs providing them with information, guidance, support, and leisure activities. The center promotes disability awareness.

// Project Description

The Lev Kiryat Gat Ensemble is a professional choir for children and teenagers with special needs including ASD, physical and intellectual disabilities. The choir empowers the participants, highlighting their skills and turning Lev Kiryat Gat into a source of strength. The choir, led by a professional music producer, meets once a week for vocal training, rehearsals, recording and preparing for performances. Lev Kiryat Gat is well known and participates in many events and ceremonies including national events.

// Project Goals

The Lev Kiryat Gat Ensemble is a choir for adolescents with special needs. The project’s goals include empowering the self-image of the participants, expanding the number of members, increasing the frequency of performances and raising awareness towards people with special needs.

// Target Population

The choir is designed for adolescents with special needs across a wide range of disabilities. The choir has nine members. Performances are held in front of large audiences of dozens and hundreds of participants, and have a profound impact both on the members of the choir and on those who hear them.

// Outcomes

Short-term outcomes focus on choir performances, deepening professional skills, expanding the musical repertoire, and creating new collaborations. In the long term, Lev Kiryat Gat Ensemble aims to establish the choir as an official ensemble and to arrange a face to face meeting with the Chicago based Keshet Inclusive choir.

// Project Timeline

The choir meets once a week for rehearsals, and performance preparation. There are regular performances throughout the year, such as Rosh Hashanah, Independence Day and special local and national events upon invitation.

// Budget Sustainability

The majority of the funding comes from the Kiryat Gat Municipality. The Ensemble will need to seek additional funding sources and partner organizations to continue the program.
The support is very important for the choir’s progress and for Lev Kiryat Gat’s connection with the Keshet choir. Without it, the choir would still operate, but would have to reduce the scope of activities, and the relationship with Keshet choir would likely be compromised.

// Project establishment status

The choir operates with great success thanks to the significant support of the Partnership.
