// Project Description
The project is a life-long home, housing nine young women with IDD (Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities) in 2 apartments in the heart of kibbutz Masuot Yitzhak. Supported by a team of professional SHEKEL staff, the women are integrated into work in the Kibbutz and into the social and cultural life, while honing life skills and receiving vital stimulating enrichment programs that educate and connect them to the world around them. The program Includes cultivating outings and educational trips, social and cultural activities and a short vacation.
// Project Goals
The purpose of the project is to offer an all-embracing life-long kibbutz home for nine young women with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The program enhances independence and enables the women to learn, advance and thrive as an integral part of the community, including work and taking part in the social and cultural life of the kibbutz.
// Target Population
In addition to the nine women, the project impacts their families, some of whom are aging or from a low-income background and are unable to provide for their children's basic needs. The project also impacts the kibbutz community who claim that the presence of the women has a positive influence.

// Outcomes
The expected outcomes are that the women develop life skills in vocational, cultural and educational fields that facilitate personal growth and independence. Other expected outcomes are that the program enables them to connect easily with the community, and that they become a valued, vital and an integral part of the Kibbutz community.
// Project Timeline
This is a year-round project. A three-day vacation will take place in July. Throughout the year the program will have: four full day outings, six mini social / cultural / educational events, weekly extracurricular activities in art / sport and weekly trauma therapy intervention.
// Budget Sustainability
SHEKEL will continue to allocate resources and fundraise for this vital project.
If the partnership won’t fund the full amount, some of the life-enhancing activities that promote personal growth, independence, and social cohesion as a group will be reduced.
// Project establishment status
The project is operating in the Shafir Region.
